Nicuaragan Lullaby With Zeke Translation

5 Feb

Vuela, Vuela, pajarita
Vuela, a tu palomar
Mira, que la vida es triste
Con tu cantar,
tu allergre mi corazon
Con tu cantar y tu trinar
La mal noche, y se va.

Fly, fly away little bird
Leaving your nest
Look how sad life is
With your song, you bring joy into my heart
The evil night will pass.

25 years ago Zeke translated this song thusly, that we listened to on a cassette tape we bought at a concert. I remember it being on the beach in Los Angeles. I remember always believing we were photographed and put on a list.

When I look up “Vuela, Vuela Pajarita” on the Internet, I find my own banned self on Daily Kos. Top of the list. Same story.

These songs appear to be lost, as far as the Internet is concerned.

There were a bunch more of them, recordings of people in El Salvadorian refugee camps, I’m now remembering.

The Internet is too busy with other things, I suppose.

Congratulations for being top of the list.

So what’s all this about being banned?

Old history at this point. I was being harassed by someone and I called her out and they banned me. At the time there was no coherent blog moderation, and shortly afterwards a passel of people were banned, including a friend of the person who was harassing me. Be careful what you wish for…
