Bird Dreams

Bird Dreams

Sleep is hard, and then I dip into a little
Dreaming, the border is thin.

I am so close that I can
Almost see it, where the illusion starts.

And dream of flying, again
Though I haven’t dreamt of flying in years.

Now I only lie awake, drifting at dawn
Flocks of sparrows cheering the light outside my window
And remember those dreams, where I would just jump up
And lift off
And flap my arms, feet like a tail
Like a rudder
Dodging the power lines.image
