Thank you for posting the link. I’ve been reading the various cross linked threads. The fact that they banned a poster who specifically challenged the homophobia of the genderists is telling.

I’m over on Mumsnet as a regular poster and took part in the “I am Spartacus” thread with over 900 others, nearly all of them women.

One of our requests to Mumsnet HQ is to ban the word “cis” unless a poster is referring to themself. The concept of cis is that there are ciswomen and transwomen, which is based on a belief that both are subsets of the word “woman.”

But transwomen are not women. The claim that we need a new word for women is dishonest. For example, when talking about gay men we need a word for non-gay men: it’s not gay men versus men or, heaven forbid, normal men. But in the case of “cis” there’s no equivalence between women and transwomen. Hundreds of women on Mumsnet have asked that the word be banned because the assumptions it makes are offensive and, more importantly, untrue.

Also, if you want to write anything about this and are looking for a venue, I’d be up for helping you out with that. My blog has small outreach but I have contacts who are more visible.
