There are so many products on the market for making people feel clean and smell nice. Most of them are overcomplicated, overpriced and kind of superfluous. But making the switch to more natural and simpler bath and body products can be a bit of a minefield.

Even for those of us who don’t get into perfumes and cosmetics, or who know better than to use a shower gel or antibacterial soap, it can be hard to know where to start or which alternatives actually work. Luckily for you I have tried a few. So here are my experiences, the products I use or buy and why, and a few examples of things that didn’t work for me.

      I think the idea is that body wash has more mass and takes up more space than bar soap, thus transportation costs are higher and there’s more pollution.

      The idea that we can somehow solve the problems of global climate change by choosing soap or homemade products over body wash is insane.

      Did you know that Germany generates more electricity per capita from solar than the US does? Did you know all this solar capacity was cost competitive with other energy options Germany had? Did you know that most of this German capacity was imported from the US?

      Fretting about body wash when the US has the best solar tech and the best places to put it is how we will die.
